On Wednesday, March 26, we received a visit from Panama’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Felipe Chapman, and Vice Minister Eída Saiz. During the meeting, the presence and projection of the Group and its subsidiaries in Panama were discussed, as well as the strategic value of the country for the Central American and Caribbean subregion.
Panama has established itself as a hub for the development of the auxiliary maritime industry through CMC, AGUNSA, AGS, and CPT. In particular, CPT has experienced exponential growth in its towing operations in Pacific and Atlantic ports, creating synergies with ports, shipping lines, and local partners.
The Panamanian authorities also discussed opportunities for new investments in future concessions of port and airport terminals and appreciated the Group’s comprehensive participation in Expocomer Panama 2025, the country’s main trade fair with reach across the Central American market.
The president of GEN, lawyer and businessman José Manuel Urenda, highlighted that Panama represents a strategic value space and announced his visit in May to meet with President Mulino and key ministers related to the industry. The goal is to explore new projects in the north and the Canal, thus consolidating the Group’s presence in the region.
The meeting was attended by the main managers of the Group’s companies, as well as former ministers of Finance and Mining of Chile, Felipe Larraín and Hernán de Solminihac, and the institutional advisor of GEN and CPT, former ambassador Francisco Cruz.
